Helping you to make a difference in your local community with volunteering opportunities.

Red Zebra is helping people to improve the lives of others in their local community while developing new skills, enhancing their CVs and making new friends.

Introducing Volunteer Connect

Discover a range of volunteering opportunities on Volunteer Connect, our local, online portal and apply directly online. If you’d like local organisations to be able to get in touch with you, you can also sign up for the volunteer bank. This allows organisations who are using the site to see your basic profile (no personal details given) and contact you if they think you would be a good fit for them. This is especially great for those who are unsure of what role to apply for but have an area of interest they would like to pursue.

Face-to-face appointments

We also offer face to face volunteer appointments at our centre in the heart of Whitstable, where you can discuss your options within the local area.

For more information, please email us or visit the Volunteer Connect website using the links below.

Beach Creative CIC:

Flogging a Dead Horse! - The Big Painting is a community project which aims to create the biggest painting in the UK and regenerate an area of wasteland in Herne Bay. The design will celebrate aspects of Herne Bay's little known history, especially the The Dawn Horse - a fossil that dates back 54 million years and is evidence of the world's first horse! Artist Claire Knights was inspired to create a record-breaking painting on the old astro turf pitch of the Herne Bay Hockey Club to celebrate this amazing story. Working collaboratively with artists from Beach Creative and the local community this will be a fun summer eventas part of the BayFest (Herne Bay's Summer Festival) ..Everyone is encouraged to go along and add their own creative ideas to the project.

This is an artist-led project to transform Herne Bay's disused hockey pitch into the biggest painting in the UK.
First they need immediate help to clear the site which is in Beacon Rd, Herne Bay.
Secondly, go along and help Claire and a number of other lead artists to create the painting.  No experience necessary.
They are hoping from the 5th to the 28th August individuals /communities/clubs/families will all get involved and be part of this exciting and fun project which they hope will go into the Guinness Book of Records.

They welcome all comers but children under 13 need to be accompanied by an adult who they encourage to participate. They don't think it's suitable for children under 5.  The site is accessible for people with disabilities.

If you would like to help clear the site or join in the painting, please contact Beach Creative on 03001 111913 /   You can register to help with the painting on the website https://flogging-a-dead-horse-the-big-picture.eventbrite.com
